Onboarding Step-by-Step

This article introduces the stages required to begin working together

🎉 Welcome to Perlego! 🎉

We are pleased to partner with you and host your content on our platform. this page will explain the key steps in beginning our relationship.

Direct or Indirect?

The first question to answer is whether you are working with us Directly (no third party involvement) or Indirectly (via a Distributor). A more detailed guide on the difference, and what it means for content delivery, can be found in the article Sending your eBooks to Perlego.

Uploading Content for a Direct Relationship

If you are coming in directly, your distributor will manage most of this. Please see the article above for what that will look like. If you are coming to us directly, here is a brief account of what that will mean.

You will receive an email containing the necessary credentials to connect to our dedicated SFTP server for content submission. These credentials can be used with your preferred FTP Client, such as FileZilla. This secure transfer method allows you to deliver the required files to Perlego for processing and subsequent use on the platform.

We require separate files for the Book (either EPUB or PDF format) and the Cover (JPEG format), in addition to a Metadata file. The comprehensive file requirements and detailed specifications are available in our content submission guidelines, please see this article -  Uploading and Managing books

For metadata, we prefer the industry-standard ONIX format. However, if you do not currently utilise ONIX, you may use the metadata Excel template included in your welcome pack or downloadable from this online guide on How to Use the Metadata Template.

Automatic Monthly Reporting

As part of the onboarding process, you have the opportunity to register for automatic monthly reports delivered via email and automatic payments, thereby eliminating the need for manual invoice generation. Further information and registration links for both services can be found here - Sales Reports and Automatic Payments.

Withdrawing Content

We understand that content management includes necessary removals. This can be executed by uploading updated metadata that includes the appropriate availability information. This change will be automatically processed and actioned within 24 hours of receiving the revised metadata. For detailed guidance on managing your live content, please refer to our Content Management Guide.
