Submitting Updates and New Titles
Guidance for Ongoing Content Delivery to the Platform
Once your initial content delivery channel is established, the process for adding new books or updating existing titles is simple and efficient.
1. Submitting New Content to the Perlego Library
You can easily expand the content available to Perlego readers by submitting your files using the same established delivery channel and formatting requirements as your initial submission.
| If your channel is... | Use this approach... |
| Direct (FTP connection) | Use the same FTP credentials and connection for all future deliveries of new books. |
| Indirect (Distributor) | Continue submitting new content through your established distribution partner's process for Perlego. |
For every new title submission, ensure you include three corresponding files:
-
The Book file (EPUB or PDF)
-
The Cover file (JPEG)
-
The Metadata file (ONIX or Excel Template)
Reference: For detailed requirements on file formats, naming conventions, and FTP access, please refer to the guide: Sending Your eBooks to Perlego.
2. Updating Existing Titles
If you need to make changes to books already live on the platform - such as updating the price, correcting a description, revising contributor information, or replacing the file (if there is a typo, for example) - you do not need to resend the book and cover files unless the content itself has changed.
The primary mechanism for updating titles is through your metadata submission:
-
Prepare the Updated Metadata: Ensure the metadata file (ONIX or Excel Template) contains the new, corrected information for the relevant title(s).
-
Set the Notification Type: Within the metadata file, the crucial step is to set the Notification Type for the title to 04 (Update).
-
Upload the Metadata: Upload the revised metadata file via your chosen delivery channel. Our system will process the update, ensuring the new information is reflected on the Perlego platform.
Key Reminder: Using Notification Type 04 tells our system to overwrite the existing data for that specific ISBN, avoiding the creation of duplicate entries and ensuring accurate information is displayed.
