Can users download books on Perlego?

Explaining the download functionality, availability, and user distribution rights

The Perlego mobile app for iOS and Android allows users download up to 30 books at a time for offline access only within the Perlego app.

These books will remain in the downloads for as long as they are being read. If a downloaded book is inactive for 30 days, the download will automatically expire to free up space and maintain data security.

Offline Access and Distribution Rights

Downloaded books are stored using proprietary encryption and are only accessible within the Perlego mobile application. The download feature is solely for facilitating offline reading for the authorised, subscribed user.

Restriction on Distribution and Circulation

Due to digital rights management (DRM) and licensing agreements, users cannot distribute, share, or circulate downloaded book files outside of the Perlego app under any circumstances.

Restriction Detail
File Format Downloaded files are not saved in a standard, transferable format (like a PDF or EPUB) that can be opened by third-party software.
Security Files are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) which prevents copying, printing, or sharing outside of the secured application environment.
Subscription Link Access to downloaded files is intrinsically linked to the user's active subscription status. If the user's institutional access expires, the downloaded content will become inaccessible.

🔒 Security Commitment: This strict limitation ensures that content remains secure, respects copyright, and prevents unauthorised mass distribution, protecting the licensing terms established with our publishing partners.
